The luncheon held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the commissioning of the Featherston Military Training Camp, and to launch our fundraising campaign was a huge success. The weather was beautiful (albeit very hot!) and one hundred and thirty-five guests enjoyed a delicious meal, fine wine, good company, interesting speakers and the honour guard by the NZ Mounted Rifles Charitable Trust and their horses.
All labour involved was contributed by the local community and we are humbled and grateful for their enthusiastic involvement in what was an outstanding event. Our Boosted crowdfunding campaign, launched at the luncheon, has now reached 60% of the targeted amount of $10,000. Thank you to all those who have contributed so far. Also announced at the luncheon was the Trust House grant of $50,000 towards the cost of the project. The Featherston Camp Memorial Trust is very pleased to have the support of one of the largest funders of community events and organisations in the Wairarapa area.
